JOB TITLE: Pharmacist
JOB SUMMARY:
The NHO pharmacist has responsibility for the implementation and coordination of the in-office oral dispensing program in private physician oncology practice. Applies clinical skills and knowledge of therapeutic drug management in cancer patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Responsible for the interpretation of medication orders to include compounding, dispensing of medications, and medication order entry; utilizes and maintains patient profiles; monitors drug therapy for efficacy, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, contraindications, allergies, sensitivities, and cost; practices in a proactive, self-directed manner.
Execute day-to-day operations in the pharmacy as they pertain to workflow, and deadlines.
Ensure the pharmacy follows all local, state, and federal rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy. Assist in ensuring that the pharmacy is following all DEA policies and procedures as set forth by the organization or regulatory agency, whichever is stricter.
Ensure the pharmacy follows all third-party payor contract rules and regulations by which the pharmacy is bound.
Adhere to safety and security procedures to promote a safe and secure environment.
EDUCATION/SKILLS:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy.
Current license, in good standing, to practice pharmacy in the state of Nebraska.
Minimum of two years’ experience as a registered pharmacist required.
Proficiency in clinical interpretation required: drug-drug, drug-disease, drug-food interactions and allergies.
Retail pharmacy experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires full range of motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Work is performed in an office environment and requires desk work.
Frequent contact with patients and third-party agencies.
Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Work with physicians and service providers in planning and implementing patient care strategies to ensure safe and timely delivery of drug therapy.
Compounds and dispenses medication orders accurately using proper labeling and documentation according to Pharmacy policies and procedures, State law and Federal law.
Oversee the process for proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all drug inventories.
Educate patients and caregivers on symptom management and supportive care measures to ensure medication adherence.
Assist with patient financial assistance as needed.
Policy development and review.
Evaluate cost-savings initiatives.
Achieve and maintain an adequate base knowledge of computer software programs including EMR, pharmacy software and practice management system.
